Dream Circus Productions
Background
A group of Emerson College students created Dream Circus Productions to produce an independent film based on the Harry Potter universe titled "The Gathering Storm: A Marauders Fan Film".
During pre-production, they decided that extra help was needed for wardrobe fabrication, and I was contacted to create the costume for the younger version of Minerva McGonagall.
Project
This film is set in 1977 and imagines what might have happened when Harry Potter's parents were students and how the "Marauders" joined forces before the first war with the evil Voldemort. I was first given some reference art and the production costume designer's concept sketches for the younger version of Professor McGonagall.
I then created a sketch for the robe based on all of this art that reflected the concepts.
We settled on the Watteau-backed robe in green chenille and black velvet. The robe has a facing of peacock jacquard, and the gown underneath is a black crinkle crepe with a high collar. Gold buttons also fasten the front, and some embroidered motifs on the shoulders.
Below are two portrait images taken on set as well as some of the footage from the shoot.
